Adyghe public organization appeals to Abkhaz people

ADYGEIYA, October 29, Caucasus Times, – “Adyghe Khassa” public organization of Adyghe people addressed an appeal to Abkhaz people expressing its concern over the situation unfolding in Abkhazia after the recent presidential vote in this outbreak republic, Caucasus Times correspondent reports citing the organization office.

“Recent events in Abkhazia give rise to fears that the disputes over the results in recent presidential vote might go beyond the limits of constitutional order,” the letter reads. Proposals to dismiss legally elected president resemble the scenario of topple of the president Shevardnadze of Georgia. The Adyghe people express their hope that Abkhaz people will be able to prevent unlawful acts and violation of the Constitution of the republic, Caucasus Times correspondent quotes the appeal.

We aim to strengthen the region’s informational sovereignty by expanding access to truthful sources and raising media literacy. At the same time, we support the development of national languages as key elements of identity and cultural heritage, encouraging public discussion and engagement. The project seeks to become a catalyst for building a strong civil society and defending democratic values, helping to train new professional journalists and fostering international cooperation.
