Chechen Parliament spoke out for giving the republic control over “Grozneftegaz” company

CHECHNYA, 20 March, Caucasus Times. Chechen parliament made a decision to ask Russian government to make 2% of the shares of “Grozneftegaz” company a part of the property of the Chechen Republic to get control over this company.

At present 51% of the shares of this company, which produces more than two million tons of oil per year, belong to “Rosneft” company and 49% belong to Chechen government. In the meantime, during a parliamentary session there was also made a decision to ask the Russian government to turn “Chechenneftehimprom” company over to the property of Chechnya.

Talking with the journalists about those decisions, Chairman of the People’s Assembly of Chechnya Dukvakha Abdurakhmanov stated that oil industry is the main branch of industry in Chechnya, which is forming the republican budget and therefore “Rosneft” activities in Chechnya should be absolutely transparent.

In his words, Chechen parliament together with the Russian leadership will be looking for ways to get control over the republican oil industry. “If we returned into Russian Federation as a subject of federation, then we should have full rights in the economic sphere”, – he said.

Chairman of the People’s Assembly of Chechnya Dukvakha Abdurakhmanov also said that Chechnya is interested in getting more financial resources into republican budget. According to his information, “Rosneft” is getting more than 17 billion rubles out of trade in Chechen oil, but Chechen budget is receiving not more than just 30 million rubles.
