Chief officer of anti-criminal police attacked in Makhachkala

DAGESTAN, March 25, Caucasus Times – An attempt on the life of Ahmed Magomedov, chief officer of anti-criminal police of Lenisky district police department was carried out today in Makhachkala. A roadside bomb went off at 6.20 a.m. as the cars of the officer and his guards were passing by, the Interior Ministry said.

Lt. Col. Mr. Magomedov suffered shrapnel injuries, two of his guards were lightly wounded.

Bomb experts working at the site say the bomb charge was at least 900 grams. The explosive was stuffed with metal bolts.

The police detectives are trying to establish those who might be interested in killing the chief officer.
