Criminals give the police the slip

DAGESTAN, March 15, Caucasus Times – The law enforcement agencies believe the militants have managed to break out of the area cordoned off by special forces. The two gunmen might have escaped during the storm of their hideout or at dawn, when the police had ceased fire, the Interior Ministry told Caucasus Times correspondent.

As the wanted criminals, Vagit Hasbulatov, 25 and Shamil Taimaskhanov, 29, are the natives of the town they knew the locality like the palms of their hands and managed to flee, Caucasus Times quoted the Interior Ministry spokesman as saying.

The police are trying to track down the runaways in the town.
