Karachaevo-Cherkessia Is Getting Ready For the Municipal Elections

KARACHAEVO-CHERKESSIA, 23 December, Caucasus Times. Session of the republican government dealing with the issues of the upcoming elections of the heads of the minucipal districts and deputies of the local councils scheduled for 25 December has recently taken place in the House of the Government.

Speaking at the session, Safar Geryukov, Chairman of the Republican Election Committee informed that 404 thousands 278 bulletins had been prepared for the elections including the bulletins for the referendum on the creation of Abazin district which is to be held on 25 December in six settlements of Karachaevo-Cherkessia.

“In general, election campaign is going on smoothly and without any serious violations. All polling stations are properly equipped, stable telephone connection is provided; necessary security measures are being taken”, – S. Geryukov indicated.

Mustafa Batdyev, President of Karachaevo-Cherkessia, reminded the participants of the session that elections should be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the republican Law “On Elections to the Bodies of the Local Self-Government of Karachaevo-Cherkessia”

We aim to strengthen the region’s informational sovereignty by expanding access to truthful sources and raising media literacy. At the same time, we support the development of national languages as key elements of identity and cultural heritage, encouraging public discussion and engagement. The project seeks to become a catalyst for building a strong civil society and defending democratic values, helping to train new professional journalists and fostering international cooperation.
