Musical theatre of Northern Ossetia is preparing its first premiere for the last several years

NORTHERN OSSETIA, 10 November, Caucasus Times. Premiere of “Eugene Onegin” will take place today in the evening in Vladikavkaz. Singers from Mariinsky theatre will be featuring in today’s performance.

According to Larisa Gergieva, newly appointed director of the Northern Ossetian opera and ballet theatre, first for the last several years premiere in musical theatre of Northen Ossetia is one of the projects implemented in cooperation with Mariinsky theater and Valery Gergiev, who is taking personal care of the creative initiatives in Northern Ossetia.

The audience will see the results of the common work of the artists from St. Petersburg and Vladikavkaz as well as the efforts of famous conducter Larisa Gergieva, who is currently working in three cities – Vladikavkaz, St. Petersburg and Warsaw where she is leading vocal classes of young opera singers.

Young Ossetian conducter, Valery Gergiev’s pupil Tugan Sokhiev will be conducting the orchestra of the theater. Tugan Sokhiev is currently on tour in America with the orchestra of Tuluse but he will return from America to take part in the performance.

In the words of Larisa Gergieva, a lot of theaters provided assistance to Vladikavkaz theater. Costumes and decorations were delivered from St. Petersburg.

We aim to strengthen the region’s informational sovereignty by expanding access to truthful sources and raising media literacy. At the same time, we support the development of national languages as key elements of identity and cultural heritage, encouraging public discussion and engagement. The project seeks to become a catalyst for building a strong civil society and defending democratic values, helping to train new professional journalists and fostering international cooperation.
