President of Karachay-Cherkessia dismisses his Cabinet

KARACHAY-CHERKESSIA, January 19, Caucasus Times – President Batdiyev of Karachay-Cherkessia dismissed today the Cabinet and prime-minister Ruslan Kazanokov, Caucasus Times correspondent quoted presidential office administration. The president has appointed Alik Kardanov an acting prime minister, who had been a district administrator and the head of the government under former president Vladimir Semienov.

The administration spokesman did not comment on whether the dismissal was linked to the political crises in November, 2004, that resulted from the murder of seven local businessmen organized by the President’s son-in-law.

At the same time, we support the development of national languages as key elements of identity and cultural heritage, encouraging public discussion and engagement. The project seeks to become a catalyst for building a strong civil society and defending democratic values, helping to train new professional journalists and fostering international cooperation.
